WMG temporarily relocated to the River Road Unitarian Universalist Congregation (6301 River Road in Bethesda) starting March 1st, 2023 due to renovations at our location at Cedar Lane. We expect to be at River Road at least until March 2024 and probably to June 2024.
Welcome to the Wednesday Morning Group (WMG) Lecture Series! Since 1962, WMG has been programming stimulating weekly lectures, from September to June, on a wide array of topics from current events and literature, to science and health, and to the arts and education.
Please note: We are currently full. If you would like to be placed on our waitlist, please send us a message by clicking here. For all other matters, please send us a message through the Contact Us page.
We meet Wednesday mornings at 10 a.m. for one hour, and while our longtime home has been the Cedar Lane Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Bethesda, we are temporarily relocating to the River Road Unitarian Universalist Congregation on March 1, 2023 for about a year while Cedar Lane undergoes renovations. We also hold several social events for our members each year.
Program planning meetings are held in the spring and fall and are open to our general membership. We ONLY accept speaker ideas submitted from current members and typically sort through about 200 speaker ideas each year to select 40. We do NOT accept pitches from potential speakers.
Annual dues are currently $125 per member. This includes about 40 lectures per program year and issues of our Journals (about six per year). Members may invite guests, but each guest is limited to joining us twice per semester.
Statement of Inclusion
The Wednesday Morning Group values intelligent, informed, and vigorous discussion of topics and ideas during our weekly programs. We seek to embody the diversity that surrounds us by including members of all cultural, racial, and ability backgrounds. We all flourish when there is an active and robust diversity of perspectives amongst our members and speakers. We are committed to achieving this goal by recruiting new, diverse members and speakers. We commit to ensuring an environment that is open, welcoming, and engaged.
