Welcome to the Wednesday Morning Group (WMG) Lecture Series! Since 1962, WMG has been programming stimulating weekly lectures, from September to June, on a wide array of topics from current events and literature, to science and health, and to the arts and education.
Please note: Our waitlist reopened on June 1st. If you would like to be placed on our waitlist, please send us a message by clicking here.
Check here for our current speaker calendar. The fall speaker schedule will be available after our first meeting on September 15th.
We meet Wednesday mornings at 10 a.m. for one hour from September until June. We are currently meeting on Zoom, and will continue to do so at least through December 2021.
Program planning meetings are held in the spring and fall and are open to our general membership. We ONLY accept speaker ideas submitted from current members and typically sort through about 200 speaker ideas each year to select 40. We do NOT accept pitches from potential speakers.
Annual dues are currently $125 per member. This includes about 40 lectures per program year and issues of our Journals (about six per year). Members may invite guests from November to June. Each guest is limited to joining us twice per semester.
We currently meet on Zoom but look forward to returning to our in-person gathering space at Cedar Lane Unitarian Universalist Church, located at 9601 Cedar Lane in Bethesda, post-pandemic when it is safe to gather once again. We celebrate each year with several special events which are currently on Zoom.
Statement of Inclusion
The Wednesday Morning Group values intelligent, informed, and vigorous discussion of topics and ideas during our weekly programs. We seek to embody the diversity that surrounds us by including members of all cultural, racial, and ability backgrounds. We all flourish when there is an active and robust diversity of perspectives amongst our members and speakers. We are committed to achieving this goal by recruiting new, diverse members and speakers. We commit to ensuring an environment that is open, welcoming, and engaged.
